New Years Eve

Wow, another year gone. I am just amazed how fast time flies the older you get.

My buddy Jan came over on Monday and we finished up another block for our friendship quilt. This one was not as frustrating as the last. I think we only needed four but we had so many fabrics chosen we did eight. They are very yummy.

I also finally finished up Natalie's dolls from her birthday party. her friend is staying the night tonight for the big New Year's Eve bash we have. HA HA!! So, I thought I should at least have her doll done. Here they are:

They are from the book "Stitched in Time" by Alicia Paulson. Visit her website at www.aliciapaulson.com or blog at www.rosylittlethings.typepad.com. She is cute.

I finished up another shop sample. This is one of the little Buttermilk Basin patterns, not real exciting but cute. It's a little wall hanging.

So I better be off to my celebrating!! I really mean stitching but I can stitch while I celebrate. I multi-task rather well!!

Have a great night and a Happy New Year!!

Christmas Is Over

I went to a Christmas get-together last night and it was lovely.  We had delicious food and nice conversation.  Just what you would think a holiday gathering should be.  I usually put everything Christmas away the day after, but this year Natalie requested we leave it up until the New Year, so I agreed.  It is killing me and Gordon asked Christmas Day night (that sounds weird) why the Christmas decorations were still up.  I sometimes wonder if everyone is going to be happy on the same day.  I took some pictures of our house decorated so I thought I would share them with you.

As you can see we still have the builders "butter cream" paint on the walls.  I don't mind it, at least it is not the builders white.  One day I will paint, but for now it will do.  The star for our Christmas tree broke so we have this "dog angel" I got when I worked at Old Navy in VA six years ago (Nice).  It will always be 25 days til Christmas if you go by my little quilt hanger "thingy". I have not finished the other numbers (again Nice).

Well I should be off, I brought home 3 more projects from work the other day.  I will add them to the list soon.  I am almost finished stitching one, the other I have not traced and the last is just tracing some designs for a lady in California, who is doing a BOM at the shop, she couldn't see through the fabric to trace it.

Later!!!

Merry Christmas

I have been wanting to blog for some time. Still haven't fond the time. Hopefully I can now.

So much time has gone by. I had a great selling season at the Rusty Bucket. I was so very happy.

I want to try and keep track of projects I am doing so that I can keep myself and hopefully you motivated to work on unfinished projects. I have many on my "wall of shame", as Natalie would call it. But, I also have hundreds of unstarted projects in various areas. Yes, I said hundreds, kits, blocks of the month, stitcheries, doll bodies, etc. I noticed on other blogs they have lists of their projects they want to finish up, so that is what I am going to do.

The kids had a great Christmas (I hope). We made a gingerbread house a couple weeks ago. That was a treat, I think we made it much harder than it had to be, but we had fun.

We also went through most of my buttons last night and tried to colored coordinate them. My husband says I need to try to find a tackle box or something to store them in and then label it. I might have to try that. He has such great ideas. I was actually thinking about doing that last night. I was remembering my mother use to have tackle box/tool boxes with little stuff like erasers, nails, tack, rubber bands, all kinds of stuff sorted in them. Made me laugh thinking about how much she had in those little drawers. I miss going through them and seeing all the junk piled away in them.

Friends for Christmas Quilt

by Lynette Anderson (Austrailian designer)

This quilt is so cute. I started receiving my blocks about 4 1/2 months ago and never took them out of the package, as I do with most of the BOMs I get. I started on it about 3 weeks ago and I am so excited about it now.

Here are the 1st three blocks I have completed:

Block #1

Other Works In Progress

Primitive Youngins by Primitives Pieces by Lynda. Very cute quilt. I usually do not fuse for hand applique but I chose to on this and Friends of Christmas. It is a little rougher on your fingers but I wanted them to both to be more prim and raw edged. The book has some real cute quilts in it. I love these primitive Raggedy Ann Dolls.

So I just need to start stitching them. Very cute book. The website for Primitives Pieces by Lynda is www.PrimitivePiecesbyLynda.com, check it out she does some nice primitive things.

Next is several BOM's I have purchased from www.FatQuarterShop.com, they have really nice stuff, they are all Moda U patterns. They also have new "Sushi Rolls", which are 2 7/8" strips of some Lecien fabrics. Yes I had to order a couple. So the first one is:

Designer Mystery BOM: I have two completed. Got real motivated at one point and started it but haven't been back to it. You can't see the one in the back very well. They used Moda's Piece on Earth collection.

Next is Simply Sophisticated BOM, which is from Moda's Harvest Home collection by Blackbird designs. Very pretty.

100_1022

And the last one I have from fat Quarter Shop is Piece & Plenty BOM which I have not started. Yay Me!!!

Then, I am doing a shop sample I started many months ago and became frustrated/bored with. Quiet Time a Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. pattern. I love the fabrics, they are all civil war reproductions but there are just so many blocks. I started it up again a couple nights ago. Pressing the blocks and started cutting them all down to size. There are 480 blocks and I think I am about halfway through trimming them down. I am happy with how they look I just wanted to make sure they were all the same size. I love her patterns but she does love some half square triangles.

My favorite is The Buggy Barn Crazy Amongst Friends quilt only because I am working on it with my good friend Janet. We haven't had a lot of time to work on it, mainly because we are easily distracted by pretty much everything. But that makes it nice, we get to spend more time together. There are several of each one, I just hung them together. So here are the few blocks we have done:
