Little Red Riding Hood

Finished up another block for the Melly & Me quilt "Once Upon A Time" I love doing these, so much fun.
I have had a busy 3 days off. The garage is all clean, cut the grass both front and back, drew out 87 - thought there was more - embroiderys to work on (should keep me busy for a while) and machine quilted a small wall hanging I made for my husband. I just have to put the binding on it and I will be done. Can't wait to show you.

Cleaning the Garage!!!

So I have a couple days off this week, I really feel bored. I should be crafting since I have so much planned, but I am just not in the mood. I have traced out about a hundred Christmas stitchery's, really I mean 100, no lie.  I have lots planned for the Holidays.

I can’t believe what I am actually doing. And I am moving at a snail’s pace because I feel so lazy today. I am cleaning the garage.  Have only got one little section done because I am actually vacuuming the silly place. Anal, I know, I wish I could get going on the inside. I have always been a clean freak but since I have been working so much I have let it slide. I mean our house is not a mess to the typical person but to me I can’t believe I live in it. maybe I am chilling out with my old age or maybe I am just getting plain lazy. I know it is bad when the hubby says things like remember when you wouldn’t let this get like this or that get like that. I know he is not being mean about it just making an observation but my defensive behavior wants me to scream at him “If you don’t like it – You clean it!” He is so sweet and I have been so blessed to be with a man like him, he does so much around the house without having to be asked. We share pretty much every responsibility, I am very lucky for that.

Anyway, I was just taking a little lunch break and don’t have much time until I have to pick up the kids, so back to work for me!

She’s A Big Girl Now!

100_2743

My baby girl Alice, she is one lovely little child.  She has never acted like a baby, even when she was one.  I feel like we were cheated because she walked at 9 months and potty trained herself around 1 1/2 (that, I am not missing much). She woke up one day and said, I don’t want to wear diapers anymore and she never did. No accidents or anything. She always wanted to be in the middle of what her brother and sister were doing. But don’t get me wrong she also wore me out. She was always testing me and pushing me way over my limit. She had me cursing on more than one day.  She was also the one who they made all the baby safety rules for. The other two we never had a problem with, but Alice did it all, and had many visits to the emergency room. Half the time we had to assume she was in pain because the child has never complained and if she has, you know it is real bad. We also had a saying, if a toy, decoration, something precious passed down through the families, knick knacks, whatever, if they made it though Alice, they were considered Alice Proof. We had stuff for years, things that made it through the other two children, but they could not survive Alice .  She is also such a sweet little girl. She has always been the “Peace Maker” among her brother and sister and other kids. No arguing over toys with her. If she sees someone is upset about something she will always try to make them happy. All her teachers have always commented on her behavior. She is a joy.

I came home from work Saturday morning and she was up and dressed and had a suitcase packed. She told me her friend Malaya had called the night before and she was going on a sleepover.  A SLEEPOVER????!!! I was not too worried about the sleepover,  because for goodness sakes, she doesn’t even sleep in her own bed.

She packs very well, I obviously passed on some of my packing skills to her.Alice 1st SleepoverShe went over around noon and I kept expecting around 5-6 she would be calling ready to come home. No call. 7pm, no call, 8pm she called, she talked to her brother and sister (they missed her but denied it), she talked to me for just a second, just one tiny second, she loves me, she is having fun, no I miss you mommy, no I want you to come get me mommy. The phone somehow disconnected with the other two trying to talk to her again. I call back and get the mommy, she asked Alice did you want to finish talking to your mommy, the reply “No, I’m done.” My heart broke, she is done, she must have misunderstood the question, I hoped. But no, I had to face the music, she is a big girl now.

She made it through the night, no problems. I stayed up until 4am, waiting for a call but it never came. No, it didn't come until 11:30 the next morning. She said she had to come home but wanted to stay longer. Are we really that bad, is life at home so awful?  I know it is not, but it still makes me kind of hurt a little when I know they are growing up and not needing to be with me all the time.

I love my little Ali-Bear, she is such a sweety.  I love her so much and she will always be my little baby girl!!!!

Alice was quizzing me this morning and one of the questions was "What is your favorite kind or bed?" I answered a soft and squishy one. Her response was "One that wont disturb your partner?" I think she is watching a little too much television.

I got off this morning from my long work week. The grass, or I should say weeds, are so long because we have been getting a little rain, so I decided to cut the front yard, while it sprinkled. It is starting to look good, we keep trying to grow fescue grass here and it is very difficult. Not to mention the lot we have was deep in the woods so we still have the little trees sprouting up. One day, as long as it is covered I will be happy.

Well, off to shower and then maybe lay around and stitch on Little Red!!!

Have a great day! :)

Sweet Nostalgia - Block 1 - Summers Gone

I just finished up the first block of Dorthy Baker Designs free BOM. You have to get over to ther site. She has wonderful patterns! Click on the Sweet Nostalgia link on the side bar.

Feeling A Little Worn Out!

It has been real nice getting extra hours at work, but I think I am becoming burned out.  I don’t get excited about going and getting some stitching done while getting paid.  Sounds awful but I am longing to get some good sleep.  Tired of sleeping little bits and having those little bits be filled of wacky dreams.  Yesterday I dreamt I was eating a piece of cheese pizza and the crust was way to hard, I kept thinking (in my dream) this cannot be good for my cracked tooth (will get to that in a second).  So I am trying my hardest to chew this thing and I wake up and I am chomping on my mouth guard. Great! Here is a snapshot I took of myself this morning when I got home from work.

See what I mean – exhausted!

So, I bought a night guard about a two weeks ago because I couldn’t take waking up with the headaches and jaw aches any longer. Not to mention I had already broke one of my front teeth from grinding my teeth before.  Well, I was wearing every night until Saturday when I was too lazy to go get it and put it in. On Sunday I woke up with a real bad FACE ACHE.  During the day it continued to get worse.  I narrowed the pain down to my two lower back teeth. I thought maybe I have something in there so I brought out the floss. BAD IDEA!!!! I about fainted (and peed my pants – this happens when you get older) when I put the floss between the teeth. I screamed, my husband says, “I wouldn’t do that again,” really, are you sure?, I thought. Well I called the dentist which I have not been to in years because we had no dental insurance and couldn’t afford it. The lady who answered was the sweetest lady. She couldn’t get me in on Monday but could on Tuesday, so it was set I would go on Tuesday.  I took the kids to school and we went to the book fair (fund raiser) and as I was leaving I realized I had agreed to help one of my coworkers out and work for her on Tuesday. I called the dentist back and she said she was going to talk to the dentist and call me back. Even though she was booked up for the day she said she wanted me to come in to make sure I didn’t need an antibiotic or something. She took the x-ray and I had a cavity (yes my kids will get me for that one) in the back tooth and my filling I have had since a child was loose on the tooth next to it. BUT, she could not do the work that day. Just then my favorite receptionist in the world came through the door and advised the dentist the next appointment had canceled.  Yippee and oh no were both going through my mind. So she started working on me and the Novocain was not working. Twelve or more injections later (maybe not that many but it seemed like it) she realized the tooth with the loose filling was also cracked. She pumped enough in there to get the job done and advised me she hoped this would work but she did not think it would.  I will probably need a root canal and crown. Anyway, I was in much pain the next day at work and fighting falling asleep. My gums look like someone took an ice pick to them and I still cannot eat anything with any substance on that side.  I thought it was doing better but last night it started hurting again. The pain has not been like before but it is slowly getting worse.  I told her to just pull it out, no one listens to me, it is in the back, no one will notice.

So that is my exciting week. Very long winded. I am not a great story teller.  One more night of midnights and I will be off for a few days. I am looking forward to it.  I will be making another post with a couple things I have finished stitching up. Projects for me, yippee, I love things for me!

Once Upon A Time Block 2

I just finished up - well almost I noticed I didn't do the little birds legs - my second block for the Melly & Me quilt. I am having fun with this one. I think I am going to do the 3 Little Pigs block next.

I ordered a bunch of stuff today to start making crafty things for Christmas. I know we still have a while but I don't want to rush at the last minute.

Well, off to eat some of the hubbys potatoe fries!!!

Once Upon A Time Block 1

I started the Melly & Me quilt "Once Upon A Time" the other night. It is such a cute quilt. I have all the blocks traced out and ready to stitch. I am going to do the quilt a bit darker than the pattern. I don't know why I am doing this quilt besides the fact I just think it is too cute. It is fairy tales and my three don't really believe in fairy tales anymore.

Hope everyone is doing well. I got off work this morning and have not gone to sleep. I can't seem to tear myself away from the computer. Natalie threw me off this morning. I had to take another pair of shoes to her at school because she was getting blisters. Poor baby. One more thing to do and I am off to bed.

Have a great day!!!! :)

Chris Update

I wanted to give an update on my friend Chris.  He is doing great after his surgery. They did remove 20-30 some lymph nodes and part of his colon. They told him the lymph nodes were cancer free – yippee!!!!!! And they removed all the cancer which was in stage 1 almost 2.  So he will be undergoing chemotherapy but all the details are not available just yet. He will need about 3 weeks to recover from his surgery he had last Wednesday. Thank you for all those prayers and keep them coming!!! I am happy with the news.

Pigges Turns One!

We celebrated a birthday at our house yesterday, a rather strange birthday. Gordon has a big stuffed pig name Pigges, for a month now he has been saying the 12th is his first birthday.  I worked midnights on Friday and before I left for work Gordon insisted I stop by the store and get pizza and cupcake mix for Pigges’ birthday party on Saturday. So one the way home in the morning I did. Bernie was nice enough to cook the cupcakes and cake up for Pigges and then we sang. Silly, but we had fun.

A Couple More Items Ready

I was able to finish up a few more items. The allergy cold is back in full force, maybe from cutting grass and planting trees yesterday I don’t know. Bernie took a shot of Jan, the kids and I working on one tree. He was the designated chef while we labored outside.

100_2707Here are some of the items I finished up:

100_2716 Two little ghosts!100_2700 This is Candy – She smells just like Candy Corn!!! Below are the little stitcheries I had done and I made them into flower pockets, they could also be used as treat pockets.

I am hoping to work on them tonight but my body is aching from working in the yard and still hanging onto this allergy cold.

Why – Why – Why!

100_2686 100_2687

Why is it that kids have to take advantage of you when you are sick.  My kids are very good kids but still they see you are down and they push the envelope.  I am not sure I am making sense because my head is in a fog.  My allergy attack has turned into a pretty sweet cold, ears clogged and all. I have so much work to do.  I put it all off this week hoping my resting would make me feel better, but no, now I feel worse and don’t have what I need to have ready for the Fall Open House at the Rusty Bucket. I have some items done but not what I wanted. Anyway, I feel myself rambling, I must go find some strength. Bernie is getting me some of the good cold medicine as I type so maybe I will feel better soon – such a good guy!

Already Sick!!!!!

We are only on the second week of school and Gordon caught a bug.  Which means, as usual I caught it. I thought I had strep so I went to the doctor yesterday and do not have strep but my allergies are tearing up my throat and nose, so I have more allergy medicine. And I was dehydrated on top of that, what! I can’t believe that, 20 cups of coffee and 5 mountain dews a day doesn’t hydrate you? Who would have thought.

Of course at the doctor I had to weigh in. Happy days. I weigh as much as I did when I gave birth to two of my children. Time for a change. Which includes mountain dew and all that sugar and cream in my coffee. I am sad. No wonder I am always sick, I do not think sugar and caffeine are vitamins.

Well I have to get off the computer, poor sick Gordon needs to play his Emergency3 computer game, I guess it has some type of healing powers I wasn’t aware of.

Have a great day!
