Happy Halloween!!

I hope everyone had a great Halloween. We sure did. The kids and I went trick-or-treating and the hubby gave out the candy.  I even dressed up this year.  I believe I was a middle-aged fat punk rocker groupie, something like that.  Here are the girls and I, Gordon did not like my outfit so he would not stand by me until I washed the eye makeup off.100_2942 Here are the kids ready to go. Natalie was suppose to be a Goth Cheerleader but she didn’t like anything I was pulling from around the house for her.

As we were walking down a driveway a cat ran by and then this big fat grey rat came running at us. It stopped in front of me and then ran across my boot. I thought it was someone's pet because it was looking up at me like it wanted to be held, but I think it was just spooked. I believe it was the cats play toy until we scared the cat. Very Halloween I thought.

So we have lots of candy and had a great time!

It’s a Miracle

Not much tooth pain today. The dentist was able to grind my back teeth down a little so I wouldn’t be putting so much pressure on them. I hold all my stress in my jaws – there is a lot of stress in there!!!  It is amazing how different and how much relief I feel.

The kids did well, no cavities!!! They love going to the dentist.

I only jumped out of the chair twice. I believe I scared the dental hygienist to death, she will probably never be the same. She thought she could scrape the teeth that were hurting and I think I almost kicked her in the head.  We spent the majority of the cleaning saying “I’m sorry” to each other.  It was dreadful. After she hit the nerve the first time I was tensed up the entire time. But I survived and I hope she did. Anyway, I have another cavity. I have never had cavities and now I have had two, what gives. I guess I am getting old and my body is falling apart.

Have a great day. I have to get some sleep before work tonight!!!

Today is the Day!!!!!!!

20090330_gold_teeth.jpg

I have been waiting patiently for this day. The kids and I are going to the dentist. It is a day I have dreaded but hoped would come sooner. I know this makes no sense. My teeth have been killing me since I before I went to the dentist a month or so ago. I have just been popping Ibuprofen and Tylenol bearing the headaches and pain. Hot/Cold, air, everything hurts them. Chewing on one side of your mouth takes a lot of talent, and frankly, I don’t have it.

I was hoping I would be a little more awake for the event but maybe it is better I am not. I worked 3-11:30 shift last night which put me at home about 12:30, and of course I stayed up working on dolls, man do I need to wear a thimble, but I wont. Then I played a couple mini-games on Bookworm, my family is addicted to that little worm.  I was not doing so well so I went to bed and was awaken by the phone at 6:30. My husbands work calling, don’t they know people are trying to sleep here. I feel so bad for my husband, he is so sick.  The man will not take off work when he is sick, probably because he knows he will have to work harder at home. Anyway, I am straying, as I usually do. I so hope the dentist can FIX me today, I know she will try, she is a great lady. Maybe even a Goddess of Dentistry (at least I am hoping – maybe I am building her up to big).

And to explain the photo above. As I was searching images on the internet of teeth I came across this article: http://www.wealthdaily.com/articles/sell-gold-teeth/2013. So for those who have the gold “grillz” you can now sell them to make a little extra cash.  Nice! I don’t want to know what they do with that gold!

Anyway, have a great day!! I am hoping I will!

Sweet Nostalgia Block 2

The original fabrics I chose for it did not work once I saw them with it, so I spent the last day and a half looking through fabrics and then realized that the fabrics I chose for another stitchery quilt went wonderfully. When the time comes to do that one I will have to pick again. I really love this quilt!

Here is Block 1 with the borders!

The picture is a little blurry.

Back from our Trip!!

We made it back from Maryland. It was nice to see family I haven’t seen in a while. It rained the entire time we were there, if it wasn’t raining it was drizzling. I did not get to see my father-in-laws boat. Things got a little crazy the last day we were there because his neighbors basement flooded.

I was able to see the old quilt my mother-in-law found at the farmhouse where her mother lived.  They have lived in Southern Maryland forever and owned a tobacco farm in or near Upper Marlboro, MD.  Her mother passed away not long ago and they have been cleaning out the farm house. In one of the closets she found a very large old quilt. It was not done by anyone in her family, I believe it was loaned to them or given to them. They are not really into quilts. Anyway, the quilt is very old, possibly from the 1700’s. Beautifully hand pieced and hand quilted, with trapunto also(not sure if I am spelling that correctly). I was not able to get a picture of the entire quilt because she did not want to open it all the way. And NO, I am not getting it, sad to say, I believe she had someone take a look at pictures of it and they are going to donate it to the Smithsonian or something for a tax write-off. Mercy me, I am saddened. Here are a couple pics of it, I put some others on Flickr.

The kids really enjoyed the trip playing with their cousins. Except Natalie, she was very sick by Saturday. Woke up with a high fever and just kinda laid around the entire time. I felt so bad for her, I knew how she was feeling though, I am also still sick.  We all are sick now, I tell you during the school year we cannot stay well no matter what we do.

My pictures were sort of lame but Bernie's sister takes such great pictures we usually wait to see hers.

Bernie and I were able to go to many antique stores and went back to a quilt store I have not been in since I began quilting more than 10 years ago. It was the same but with newer fabric. I think we both had fun there, well at least he said he did, he even said we should have bought more fabric – WHAT! Can we go back?

Lincoln Wallhanging

Lincoln Wall hanging
Originally uploaded by stitchin.thyme

So I finally completed my husbands wall hanging. I love how it turned out. I spent forever trying to quilt it, I wasn't happy with my hand quilting and kept changing the threads but still was never happy. I decided to quilt it on the machine and was happy, that is a first, I began and swore I would always be a hand quilter. Bernie was a little upset he wanted it hand quilted since it was hand embroidered, but oh well. I am very happy with it. I love, love the colors.

Last night I took Natalie to her school for a special PTO meeting, the 4th and 5th graders had a singing program about “Going Green”.  Natalie is the bravest little soul, she wrote a song and sung it in front of the whole school. She did awesome.  I would never be able to do that. The picture did not turn out so well but here she is:

We also had to put together really fast a project for school. She had to have a fruit and dress it up for Halloween. We had no fruit in the house (that is so bad). So I stitched up a banana really quick and we stuffed it and decorated her. She was supposed to be a “Goth Cheerleader” (which is what Natalie wants to be for Halloween) but she ended up a witch.

063That is all for now. I have been real busy in the craft/quilt room. More to come soon. Well maybe next week. We are going to Maryland to Bernie's dad’s house this coming weekend. Crabs and oysters – Yippee!!!!!!!!

Rainy Days

It has been raining, or I should say a constant drizzle has been falling for a couple days now. That makes me very happy.

I just got home from work about an hour ago. The night seemed to drag on.  I took Alice to her ENT yesterday because she was complaining the night before her ear was hurting and she said she couldn’t hear. She had her adenoids taken out and a second set of tubes put in about 2 1/2 years ago (I can’t believe it has been that long) and we knew the one was coming out but could not get it out because the ear wax had it caught in there.  Alice has never complained about ear infections even though she got them monthly. I think that had a lot to do with it, she was use to the pain.  So when she was upset about it the other night I knew she had to go in. The doctor is a great guy and a great doctor.  When he was taking the tubes out he got to the right ear and said “I cannot believe she just started complaining about this, it is severely infected,” but that is my Alice. I can’t believe I complain like I do when she goes through so much pain and doesn’t complain at all. We can usually tell she has an ear infection by the drainage, or she starts talking really loud, or seems to be a little more sensitive. She is a trooper. And I should mention she went to school today with no complaints. She has no other symptoms, no running nose, no cough, nothing, I am thinking she probably just has allergies like the rest of us.

So last night I was stitching up a Christmas stitchery and I was finishing up and a guy who works in the Hospital security dispatch came over and wanted to see what I was working on, so I showed him.  It was then that I realized (I had pretty much completed it) I spelled the word “Simplify” wrong.  I was so mad, can’t change it now, he said I should tell everyone it is in another language but I am thinking that probably wouldn’t work!!

Well off to bed for me!! Have a great day!
