I hope you all have a great night!!!

What a fun day we had today! I am very pooped. The sun was in the kids eyes so the picture did not turn out so well.
I went specifically to find these:
That is all I found, but I was not disappointed in the day, there were too many other treasures to brighten the day.
Here are some I saw but did not get. I would have liked almost everything in this picture!!
This was way too cute and hand stitched. I wanted it so bad but could not justify it. Well really I could not justify much, if anything, I got today.
Here is a close-up.
Gordon loves to go to antique stores and garage/yard sales. The girls on the other hand would rather not be invited on the trip. So, Gordon was able to find a lot of things he wanted.

One thing he always picks out is old typewriters and adding machines, he loves them.
The picture above I cut his face off but you can see he is happily clapping because he found one he liked. Like this one, they are usually too expensive for us to buy. We saw a lot of the ones below also but they are toy machines and you cannot punch the numbers. ![]()
Here is what Gordon came home with. I think he did pretty good. He was disappointed because he found a very old Red Cross Military bag but they wanted seventy-nine dollars for it.

He got a couple tools, an oil can, a military style bag, a toiletry kit ???, and a gas mask (because you never know when you may need one he says).

Like I said there was lots of cute stuff, lots of old quilts, but everything was very high priced. Which was amazing because many of the stores that were there are gone and some were closing or having sales.![]()
Natalie was able to find a few items. She collects glass “things" and is quite particular about the ones she chooses but she found some she liked.

Alice only found some beads at a bead store that is downtown. She was saving her money for a “real” store.
Here is what I got:
I also got a bunch of stuff from a store that was for sale for my dolls.
I also got this awesome sewing basket. It was the most expensive thing I got but it is handmade and so super cute.
Made by this great basketeer (is that a word?).
I purchase it at this store:
I know I said I would not buy any fabric but we were across the street at the bead store for Alice and I could not resist. I also picked out the “Punctuation” charm pack and two sale fat quarters, not bad I thought. Then Natalie picked out “Remembrance” for my Christmas present but I was paying so I thought I would show it now.
I forgot to show off a present a friend of mine from work got me. She went to a yard sale one day after I told her I was going to do my kitchen in red/white/black and she found this great basket.

She also got be a bunch of stuffing which I used to stuff all those reindeer ornaments last night. I just need to put their collars and hanging wire on and then I am working on the elf dolls again. (yours to Kim :) !!).
I am off to pop some Benadryl (not fun to have allergies when you are trying to look around antique stores). And work on some elves! Have a great evening and get some stitching time in!!

All of my ornie swaps and candle mat swap are packed up and in the mail. I feel so much better now that they are finished.
Currently I am watching Friday the 13th the Final Chapter and stuffing reindeer. I love horror films and cannot watch them when the kids are watching so I am taking my opportunity now that the girls are in school. Gordon is busy playing his video game and I can switch it fast if he comes in.
Have a great day!! Don’t forget to get some stitching time in and maybe a scary movie or two!

Olivia the pumpkin came home from school today and needed to be fixed. She had lost her nose and basket. When we were getting ready to fix her Alice had a great idea. Olivia needed a house! ![]()
Gordon was home sick today so I was not as productive as I could have been. I am just making excuses, I have lost my energy and drive. I need to find it. I was able to sew together 12 reindeer ornaments but I only have 7 days until the Holiday Open House at the Rusty Bucket and I need to take more than 12 reindeer. Tomorrow I may be taking the little guy to the doctor and running some errands but hopefully along the way I will locate some energy!! If you have any extra please send some my way!! Thanks – happy stitching!!

Well I am back to creating in my studio today. The porch sale is over and I am out of stock.
I finished up my candle mat for the swap with The Quilting Gallery and Sandi Andersen. The fabric I used is not something I would normally pick but I thought it was pretty for the mat. I am also including an ornament I made and a charm pack from Moda’s Royal Holiday which is what I used for the mats.
The temperatures are getting up there again, so far it is 87 degrees here. Natalie and I were watching the bees wake up from their nap they have been having in the garden. We thought they were dead but yesterday they began waking one at a time. It was rather interesting, if you have nothing better to do.
Alice had an assignment at school where she had to decorate a pumpkin and during class they were going to be doing activities with the pumpkin. Here is how she decorated her pumpkin “Olivia”.
I really like Olivia’s boots!

Break is over for me – back to work! Have a great day!

Are you wondering why I would post about The Lighthouse of Alexandria? It is also known as the Pharos of Alexandria, it was a tower built between 280 and 247 BC on the island of Pharos at Alexandria, Egypt to guide sailors into the harbor at night. (Thank you Wikipedia for that fabulous definition.)
Well, Natalie had a project where she had to pick one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and build a replica of it. Natalie is a very bright young lady. She has always loved, and been very good at, building. She once built a scene out of paper depicting the Civil War, when she was 7, for a surprise for her daddy. We did not even know she was doing it until she presented him with it. Her favorites though are buildings, my husband and I say one day she is going to be an architect.
Armed with a glue gun, tape, cardboard and paint she can build anything. Here is her rendition of the Lighthouse of Alexandria. (Can you tell I am proud?)
Of course, what does her sleepy mommy do this morning on the way out the door. I lifted it in the air and hit the windows over the doorway breaking the top off. Thank goodness for the trusty glue gun.
I am not sure if you can see from this picture but she used a fabric to represent the water around the lighthouse.
Okay I must get some rest. I hope you have a great day – and make sure you find some time for a little stitching!!

The porch sale was a big success, so much so that we will be having it again next year! Yippee!! I had such a great time. But boy am I pooped.
I thought I would post a note to all the wonderful ladies I had the pleasure of seeing today. Some I knew, some I just met, but you all have a special place in my heart. I enjoyed talking to you today and sharing the items I made with you. All the kind words I received today made me feel very special.
Thank you all for coming out.
I would also like to give a big “Thank You” to Sharon for hosting and opening up her home for all of us today. Sharon worked her “buns” off and I really appreciate it. Also, a big “Thank You” to her husband Mark for being such a good guy. And Mark, our cupcakes looked awesome!!
Thank you again and have a great weekend!

I dropped off a group of elves today for the porch sale tomorrow. After they spent some quality time hanging out on the front porch this morning!
When I got home my husband put me back to work. I did two more pin cushions!
Do you remember the red work quilt I did.
I never did quilt it. Sooo…..
Who could ask for a better husband – not me – I have the best. He got the seam ripper out and went to town.
Then the whole family got into the stuffing!! Thanks guys!!
Until we had this:
I still need to sew them closed so I better get busy. Early morning for me tomorrow!!
Almost forgot, two pillows made from the Bareroots BOM I was doing and didn’t finish. (So now I am finished :).)
I hope I will see some of you tomorrow! I hope you all have a great weekend.
