Turkey Day is over.

031

I can tell you one thing we will be eating well for the next week. I cannot remember if I mentioned it but my husband bought a 22 pound turkey, yes that is right I said 22 pounds. It was only 16 dollars, found an awesome sale and jumped on it.  My husband is an awesome cook. He is getting more creative every year when it comes to cooking. I guess he  has to or we would eat nothing but cereal, oatmeal, pasta, easy stuff, for that is about all I can cook. So here he is with his fabulous turkey, and before you ask- yes it was moist and delicious.

032

He even let the kids help – I cannot believe Natalie put her hand in there. As you can see no one could. I love how everyone was awaiting her reaction.

004

And Gordon, he is following in his dads footsteps. He will also be a fine chef.

002

I didn’t realize I didn’t get a shot of little Alice cooking but I do have her with her Mrs. Claus apron on. We decorated the house for Christmas yesterday also.

011

We had an awesome day and I hope you guys did also.  I went into work at 2 am this morning so one of my co-workers could do the Black Friday madness this morning.  When I got home I finished up some Elf dolls.  I believe I have created my most favorite on yet. Here he is. The fabric is an old fabric I had that has the words and music to Silent Night. He is so cute and blue – I love blue!!

034

Here are his other two partners in crime.

We had a nice rain this morning. I should have taken advantage of it and taken a little nap but I need to take care of some things today so no time for sleeping.

Swap Ornaments

Wishing we had snow like I put on the picture but instead we have 62 degrees at 10pm and the high today was 77. Is it really November? I guess it is okay as long as we get a some cold to kill off the bugs for next summer.
Not much going on here except work right now, hopefully after tonight I will be able to show you some new stuff.
Be safe if you are traveling and don't foget to get some stitching time in!

My goodness!!!

It has been a little while since I have blogged. So much catching up to do.

I will start with my living room. You remember I said I was giving it a good cleaning. Well I did and then rearranged everything. I have some things how I like it but  most of the walls are not to my liking. I like knick knacks so many of you may see it as cluttered. But I have even taken some things away. I cannot describe my style I like a little bit of everything. So here it is:

003004014026025022018013

Natalie had her 12th birthday and I picked her up early from school We went and had lunch, then went to Dunkin Doughnuts (I love their iced Gingerbread Coffee). While we were there I locked my keys in my car. I called my husband and he would have to go all the way home, try to find the spare key and then come out to where I was.  I then called my friend who is a police officer but works for the town next to where I was. He and the best dispatcher in the world called the town police where I was and they came out and unlocked my doors. What a noodle I am.

So then on Natalie’s special day I spilled coffee on her pants. We went and I got gas and when I was taking some trash out of the car I left a opened water on the center console and forget to throw it away, so when I turned out of the gas station it fell and spilled all over Natalie. Do you see where I am going with this?

I felt so bad for her. We went home and when the other two little ones got home we dropped them off at my husbands work and went to the mall.  She had a couple gift cards that were burning a hole in her pocket. It is amazing how little they find they want when they have to pay for it. We had a great time together.

Last night she had a sleepover with three friends. I cut one out of the picture, I forgot to ask her mom if I could post her in the picture. They had fun.

Bffs

Tonight I finally finished up an order for six reindeer. I embroidered names on these. She wanted certain colors and I think they turned out lovely, very natural looking. You might have to click on the picture of them in the tree to see them larger.

Gordon also had fun working on stuff today. He finished up some projects I had in the “Unfinished Bucket” and also had fun with some walnut spray I had made up on the bright stuff.

004

Here he is proud of his work!

005

Well, off to finish one more order and then to bed! Have a great Sunday and don’t forget to find some stitching time!!

So much going on!!

Wow – things are just abuzz around the quilting community here. One shop that has been in the area forever is closing, another shop moving in closer, another shop closing at the end of the year. I don’t know what is going on, but there will be three definite changes going on if the rumors are right. Can’t wait to see what happens. Everyone is so excited.

Yesterday  was my big day. After working all night I went in to have my root canal. After doing the root canal my dentist realized she could not save my tooth and had to pull it. Bad part is it seems my mouth does not like going numb so it was quite painful. My dentist is awesome (Dr Guanga – for those in the area) she tried very hard to save my poor tooth and tried her best to make it as least painful as it could be. I had to fib a little and say I couldn’t feel it because she didn’t want to hurt me. So I am toothless for a bit. I can handle it. It is in the back and not very noticeable.  I am in a lot more pain today than I thought I would be.  My tooth or where it was does not hurt anymore, so that is nice but I cannot open my mouth very much and where I had to have all the injections and such is very sore. I can deal with it because it is so nice to not have that constant pain from my tooth. At least I know this will go away in a couple days.

I didn’t get but maybe an hour sleep yesterday and then last night from taking the pain medication I was up until a big storm rolled through cleaning my quilt room. Pain medications makes me clean, or I should say gives me a lot of energy. So my room is clean. But the storm woke everyone up, the power was out and so the kids were up from about 12:30 to 2am then we were up at 6am to get ready for the day. I have had about 5 hours of sleep.

And now I am off to a field trip with Alice’s class to Historic Oak View in Raleigh.  I am very excited, well as much as I can be. I tried to go with Gordon and Natalie when they went but didn’t get picked to go, now I get to go!!  I am upset I still have not located the camera so I wont get to take pictures.

I decided to blog now because I know when I get home I know I am going to be real tired. So have a great day and don’t forget to find a little stitching time today!!

No Camera!!!

This is me:

paper-500x400

I am dying here. We have lost my daughters camera and since mine is broken it is the only one we have. I do not know how long I can go without a camera. We cannot afford to get another one right now.  Natalie just came in with her DSi and showed me a picture she had taken with it so now I am thinking I might be able to use that if need be.

I took a load of stuff to my friend Sharon’s tonight for her to sell at her classes this week. I sent two new little Santa stump dolls, two redwork embroidered pillows, 4 redwork hanging ornies, 2 Santa head ornies, one boy elf and one girl elf. I wanted to show you so bad, we looked around for about an hour and a half for that darn camera.

I have sad news. The little crab I showed you in my last post did not make it to this post. We had a small funeral for him yesterday. It was a sad moment. I hate to say this but he/she was a stinky little thing.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready for Monday. I am going to work on some reindeer orders I had tonight so until next time!

Redwork Pillows

I only sold three of the redwork pillows we put together for the porch sale so I am finally listing them on my selling blog here009010011012013015

We also have another new member of our household.  Gordon has brought home yet another little critter from school.  He or she does not have a name yet.

006007

Yesterday I came down with what I thought was an allergy attack but I think it was part of a cold I had been fighting.   The kids had a dentist appointment so while I was there I reluctantly made an appointment for my root canal I have needed for about a  year. My dentist was giving me a hard time saying she didn’t understand how I could go so long with the tooth pain, but you do what you have to do.  I made my appointment and she gave me an antibiotic to take until my appointment just to make sure there was no infection.  I started taking it yesterday afternoon and well, my cold/allergy thing is gone now. I am so happy. Only disadvantage is I have been really dizzy all evening, but I have a problem with my ears and I think the fluid in them is causing the dizziness. I can deal with that!!

Natalie stayed home from school today because she had a slight fever but she ended up feeling okay. She made me breakfast since this morning I was still feeling bad. My husband had made the pancakes and bacon yesterday and she just heated them up but she also made them into this cute smiley face. My kids are great!

008

We have been doing some serious room redo’s (Natalie and I) so hopefully we will have some pictures for you tomorrow of the new rooms.

Have a great night and I hope you were able to get some stitching time in!

Happy Veterans Day

forgot

Thank you all you military men and women who are or have served our country. Today is your day!!

I found this funny picture of me when I was in the military and scanned it for you to see. It makes me giggle!!!

001

We had fun on that deployment! Wish I was still that skinny! My Natalie, her only comment was, “You had no boobs.” Yes, that is what being skinny does to you!

Anyway, have a great day and don’t forget to find a little stitching time!!

Cleaning

When I get really stressed, like I was last week it is usually followed by a tremendous desire to clean up and out. So that is what I have been doing today. Well this afternoon. I slept in today – I will not admit to how late I slept but it is quite embarrassing. I thought I would share some pictures with you of how it is going. Here is what my living room currently looks like (but clean floors – I took this before I cleaned):

008007

I stripped off all the covers from my couch pillows and the couch. I got the couch when we moved into our house almost 4 years ago from Ethan Allen, I love it. If it basically slip covered but not like one of those inexpensive ones that really don’t fit. It looks beautiful. I included a picture from the Ethan Allen site but they didn’t have a picture I could copy well. Here is my naked couch.

00620-7753_front_sm

My husband came home for lunch and helped me move the gigantic TV off the nook. I hate the nook. I wish it was not there. I like to change things around and with the nook the TV has to stay in one spot because of the cable hookup. My husband, although helpful in many things, is not a handy man type of guy and will not move the cable for me. So I have to wait for us to have enough money to have the cable company come out and put new lines in.

I was still going to move the TV but when Natalie came home she began crying about me moving the TV. Really, crying over the TV being in a new spot. My kids have such traumatic childhoods Smile.

So I have cleaned the baseboards, the floors, the flat screen TV is out of our bedroom and now in the nook (for Natalie) so now it is time for me to rearrange the room and terrorize the children a little moreSmile.

Oh one more thing, I finally upgraded my Windows Live Writer and whatever else gets upgraded when your computer wants you to upgrade stuff and the Live Writer is awesome now. I have not had time to play around with it too much but I will later. If you do not use Live Writer to blog I would definitely recommend it, it makes blogging a synch and I was not and will not be paid for that, although it would be nice. When you use this : and this ) for a smiley face it automatically enters a smiley face like this Smile. Cool!

Off I go, I hope to find some time to do a little stitching tonight, I hope you do as well!!

Busy Saturday

Is it just me or is it hard to put a title on your posts? I am having a hard time with it or it just may be tonight. One of my friends doesn’t put titles on, I am thinking that may be a good idea for me.

Today I worked at the Lone Star Mercantile at the Raleigh Flea Market at the Fairgrounds. The owner, Lisa, had to go to her mother who is very sick and she needed some last minute help at the store. My friend Sharon called me up and I went. It was fun. It has been almost 2 years since I worked retail at the quilt store and it was nice to do that again. But it was also dangerous. I had a big pile of stuff I was going to get and had to trim the pile down before I left. I only picked three things.

I got this great tinsel garland:

035

And this cute little box. Please excuse the dust bunnies on the floor I have not cleaned them in a couple weeks, oh my, yes I said a couple weeks. Shame on me. The box needs the hinges repaired but I got an awesome deal on it and I liked it enough I thought it was worth it!

026 031

My daughter Natalie will be twelve on the 18th and for her birthday this year she wanted a room redo. She got to choose her paint color and today her daddy took her to get it and they prepped the room while I was gone.

We ate pizza and then we ALL painted. I was the only one  who got paint all over themselves. This does not surprise me at all, nor did it surprise my husband.

 019020

So we had a fun day and now we get to end it with watching Camp Rock 2 for the 100th time. I do like the one little rhyming song the Jonas Brothers sing, one part goes,

“I like cheese, but only on pizza, please, sometimes on a homemade quesadilla, otherwise it smells like feet to me.” and another part “I’m not really into cars, I like really cool guitars and checks with lots of zeroes on them.” That is my favorite line.

Okay I think talking about Jonas Brothers songs is a sign of sleep deprivation so I must go :)

Have a great Sunday!! Remember to find some stitching time!
