Three Year Giveaway!!

Okay I am a little late but at least I am finally doing it. I couldn’t decide what to make and then when I finished my current project this morning I thought it would be perfect. I reached my third year blogging anniversary on September 9th. I cannot believe it has been three years.
I love blogging, rambling on about stuff that I think is important or interesting and hope that someone else might find it interesting also. I have met some of the most amazing people since I started blogging and feel sad when I don’t here from those I have not heard from in a while. Even though I can understand being absent here and there. Life comes first, you can blog about it later.
I would like to thank each and every one of you for being my blogging friends and for sticking with me through the dry spells. You guys are awesome!
So what is up for grabs you ask?
This little cutie or as my husband would say, this ugly little gal made from a pattern by Sweetmeadows Farm. She is 10”, not including her hair.

(Note to self: ensure there are no birds in the tree before placing your hands through the branches – you just might pee your pants when it flies out – not that I did – I am just saying watch out for it – ahem)
And I am also including a reindeer ornament and some other goodies that will be a surprise.
To enter please be a follower and leave me a comment. U.S. only, sorry I cannot spend too much on shipping, Christmas shopping has taken its toll. I will pick the winner on December 13th at 5pm EST.

Good luck to you and thank you again for being here for me!!!

Miss Olivia

I finished up the 21” doll I made using the pattern by Blue Moon Beginnings called “Primitive Ginger and Gingerbread”. My husband thinks she is the ugliest thing ever. My little Alice has named her Miss Olivia and thinks she is awesome. She is available at The Rusty Bucket for $45.

I worked at the shop yesterday and there was a steady flow of customers until we were able to close up. Nice, especially since the financial news is saying we are possibly in a recession again. Our local news channel WRAL was at the store when I got there yesterday. They had just wrapped up taping for a piece on Small Business Saturday.  You can see it here.

Well I am off to try to do a couple things before I need to rest for work. Have a blessed Sunday and don’t forget to squeeze in a little stitching time!

Christmas is coming!

Oh I am getting so excited, Christmas is just around the corner. The kids are all very happy and also extremely excited.

I have some finishes to share with you. I completed a stick horse for one of the cutest little customers ever at The Rusty Bucket. I hope she loves him as much as I do.

I also finished up a couple pillows and a embroidered stocking.

Tonight we decorated the inside of the house for Christmas. I love the decorations but for some reason I always feel like it is so cluttered. Our decorations are such a mixture of styles because there are some the kids have bought for me that I just have to put out.

The kids were pretty much in charge of the tree. They did an awesome job this year. Each year they get a little bit better. It use to be we would have to go back when they weren’t around and lighten up the branches. They would hang everything from just a few branches, all around the bottom of the tree. This year it looks like the only “fixing” that needs to be done is our dog angel at the top of the tree.

Louise has already found her favorite spot. Every time I go downstairs and she is down there she is curled up under the tree.

My husband is an awesome cook and he did a fantastic job yesterday for Thanksgiving. I am one of those people who can mix all her food together and eat it at once. And Thanksgiving is the best time for me to do that. So for dinner tonight I had left overs. Turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, gravy, stuffing and topped with a little cranberry sauce – yeah gross but I love it!

IMG_0302

I am working on a couple dolls tonight, hoping to finish them up and take them with me to work at The Rusty Bucket tomorrow. Remember it is Small Business Saturday tomorrow so if you can, go out and help a small business near you!

I better get busy so I can get some sleep. I hope you had an awesome week, a blessed Thanksgiving and have a super weekend. Don’t forget to find a little stitching time!

Happy Birthday Natalie!!

Today is a big day. I am officially the mother of a teenager! Yikes! My Natalie turns 13 today. She is such an awesome daughter and I am so proud of the “teenager” she has become. She has a great head on her shoulders which will hopefully be helpful dealing with these teenage years.

Natalie 13

I made her wear the birthday hat this morning before school. I thought she should wear it to school but she didn’t think it would be such a good idea.

Three Days in a Row!!

Can you believe it? Third day in a row of blogging. Just like old times!!!   We ended up not getting any of those storms they said we were going to get. We did get some rain.  The news interrupted one of the few television shows I watch to say there was good conditions for a tornado  in an area way out of our viewing area. The last 3 minutes of the new Criminal Minds, right at the climax of the show, they broke in. I screamed really loud “Nooooo” and the kids yelled at me. I was quite peeved.
The kids and I made cookies yesterday. I love peanut butter cookies but they like them with the chocolate kisses in them, so that is what we made. We pretty much ate as we baked so there are not many cookies left.

I also finished up some little snowman who, when grouped together spell winter. I actually used a spray glitter I purchase at Wal-Mart on them and it looks so good! I tried to take several pictures to show you but with my cheap camera it doesn’t really show up. I have never used the spray glitter because I heard it did not work well. I love it and can’t believe I have been missing out on this stuff. The silver looks like little sparkles of snow on them, much like glass glitter would, without the heavy price tag. When I sprayed them I was pretty far away, I think it would be too much to spray up close.

I dropped a couple things off at the Rusty Bucket today and Mack and Pam had a big surprise for me. I got my very own apron with my name embroidered on it!!  I will be helping out on Saturdays when I can, and don’t have to work my other job.  A gal can never have too many jobs you know!!  Don’t I look smashing – or squishy!!! I probably shouldn’t have been sticking my hands in my back pockets, it looks like my pants are falling off.
 Smile
Well, off to clean house. Natalie’s 13th birthday is tomorrow and she is having a sleepover and her grandparents are coming down for the weekend. I hope you have a great evening and are able to find a little stitching time!

The storms are coming!

Well it is getting pretty windy outside, we have a cold front that is coming in that is supposed to bring some crazy weather.  I should probably go ahead and take my headache medicine because I know this front will bring on a doozy.  The current temperature is 81 degrees. Wow, the middle of November. I still need to cut my grass. It is not growing crazy but I never did cut it to shape it up and now there are little bits of grass growing up everywhere. I was going to do it today but did not get to it and don’t think I will before the rain comes.

I wanted to post the picture of the embroidered block I did for a customer. Another relative of hers is doing a wedding quilt for her niece and she said she is not crafty so she found me. It took me a little longer than I had anticipated because it was during that period I was really sick.

new 003

I added some wax and sprayed sealed the reindeer last night and thought I would take another picture of them. I wont post all the pictures but this is a better picture than the one I showed you before.

008

I love them. I am definitely going to make some for our house. Look at them on the wall. This kind of gives you an idea of their size.

018

Well, off to do some work, maybe cleaning, maybe crafting!! I hope you find some stitching time today!

What a month!

Things have been so crazy here lately. I keep meaning to post and something gets in the way. I miss my blogging so much. I will try to catch you up quick and not make it too painful.

The kids had an awesome Halloween, even though it was sort of rainy. I had to work so my husband took them out. There costumes were not very elaborate this year. I think Alice is the only one who even likes the idea, the other two would be happy if we just bought them each a bag of candy.

I finished up the stitchery block for my customer who needed a block for a wedding quilt. It looks fantastic. I will have to post a picture in my next post. I thought it was on my laptop but it is not.

I made a few last minute ornaments for the Homespun Christmas Open House at The Rusty Bucket.  These are done using a pattern by Crows Roost Prims.

007

These are using a Hugs and Kisses pattern.

008

And here are the other three I finished.

The holiday open house was so much fun. This year was the first year I actually worked there during the open house. It was so great seeing all the wonderful people who actually like my handmade items and buy them on a regular basis. I do not normally like being face to face with someone who is buying something from me. I don’t know why. I get scared and embarrassed by having the attention on me. And I worry about seeing those who pick something up and don’t like it, I can’t help but going to look at the item and inspect it, wondering what I did wrong with it. But I sucked it up and I am happy I did. I loved seeing everyone.

My oldest daughter Natalie came also and helped me out, gave me some moral support. She is fantastic. Here is the crew Debbie, Me, Natalie, Lynn, Leigh, Pam and Evan.

Lets see, after working my regular job and at the Rusty Bucket I ended up working nine days in a row, then I had a couple off and I slept pretty much the first day and went back to the doctor. I was finally given an antibiotic and prednisone for my eye and cold. It took 3 weeks and 3 office visits for the PA to believe that I really had a sinus infection and not pink eye. I am all better now and right now no one at home seems sick. But tomorrow is a new day.

I then worked on some reindeer using the pattern from R&K Creations. It is a great design. These will hang but you can put them on a candle stick or any type of make-do base also. They are about 15” long, so it is a great size.

005

I worked at the Rusty Bucket on Friday and Saturday and now I have two night work shifts to get through. The I have some projects I will finish up to show you next week.  My eldest will be 13 this coming Friday. I cannot believe she is already 13. She is so grown up, it is so scary.

Well, I am off to do some stitching while I can. I hope everyone is doing well and finding a little stitching time!
