Almost December!

Can you believe it? I think I am ready for it, at least I hope I am. Have you bought or made all of the gifts you are giving this year?

I have been busy, working my 9-5 job, working at The Rusty Bucket most Saturdays and trying to find time for crafting in between family time and all that work.  I have found a bit of time and I savor every minute of it.

I just had two craft shows at work. The hospital system I work for has them every year for employees to sell their crafts. I had so much fun and met a lot of co workers who share the need to be crafty.

I want to show you some pictures of things I have been making.  I love making Christmas items and wish I could do it all year round. There are just too many other cool things to make though. So here is a little sampling of what I have done.

I am really not a fan of putting the images in an album like that but I figured since there were so many pictures it was the best way. I am leaving quite a few out only because there are just too many and I don’t want to bore you.

The family and I went to Myrtle Beach SC this past weekend and had a great time. We even got to go swimming. Yes swimming outside at the end of November!!!! We had a blast. Life is going great for us. The kids are doing awesome in school and at home, even though they could probably do a little more chores. Work is fantastic and I couldn’t ask for a better job, boss, co-workers. Prancer is still doing well, all though he is a quite spoiled little pup.

Three Year Giveaway!!

Okay I am a little late but at least I am finally doing it. I couldn’t decide what to make and then when I finished my current project this morning I thought it would be perfect. I reached my third year blogging anniversary on September 9th. I cannot believe it has been three years.

I love blogging, rambling on about stuff that I think is important or interesting and hope that someone else might find it interesting also. I have met some of the most amazing people since I started blogging and feel sad when I don’t here from those I have not heard from in a while. Even though I can understand being absent here and there. Life comes first, you can blog about it later.

I would like to thank each and every one of you for being my blogging friends and for sticking with me through the dry spells. You guys are awesome!

So what is up for grabs you ask?

This little cutie or as my husband would say, this ugly little gal made from a pattern by Sweetmeadows Farm. She is 10”, not including her hair.

(Note to self: ensure there are no birds in the tree before placing your hands through the branches – you just might pee your pants when it flies out – not that I did – I am just saying watch out for it – ahem)

And I am also including a reindeer ornament and some other goodies that will be a surprise.

Miss Olivia

I finished up the 21” doll I made using the pattern by Blue Moon Beginnings called “Primitive Ginger and Gingerbread”. My husband thinks she is the ugliest thing ever. My little Alice has named her Miss Olivia and thinks she is awesome. She is available at The Rusty Bucket for $45.

I worked at the shop yesterday and there was a steady flow of customers until we were able to close up. Nice, especially since the financial news is saying we are possibly in a recession again. Our local news channel WRAL was at the store when I got there yesterday. They had just wrapped up taping for a piece on Small Business Saturday.  You can see it here.

Well I am off to try to do a couple things before I need to rest for work. Have a blessed Sunday and don’t forget to squeeze in a little stitching time!

This why I can’t get any work done.  Here is what goes on in my studio while I am trying to work.

Natalie, my 12 year old comes up with great ideas for dolls. This is the her version of a snowman who needs to take up shaving his under arms.

I finished up two more Shepard Santas from the Cheswick & Co. pattern. I did not do sheep with them, although I love the sheep. I forgot to retake a picture of these guys. When I originally took the picture the one on the left didn’t have his eyebrows, he has them now.

I also did three more Olde Scrooge’s from the pattern by My Primitive Saltbox. Pam from the Rusty Bucket wanted more for her Holiday Open House that is in a couple weeks.

I completed some stitchery pillows.

Alice colored this one for me.

These two pillows were made for something else but after completing the Santa stitchery I happened to lay it over the pillow and when I looked at it I thought I really liked it on the pillow. They actually look very nice and prim.

This one is half the size of the one above and I colored the stitchery.

Tonight I will be working on a quilt block I was hired to do. My customer has a quilt block for a family quilt she needed done and she doesn’t do any embroidery or anything. I need to finish this project up so I can finish up some ornaments I have been working on.

Well, that is all for now. I have been playing on Facebook and neglecting my blog, I feel so guilty. I will try to behave myself.

Saturday Sewing

I wanted to show you some progress I made Saturday night. I sewed all night. I was able to get six angel/fairy dolls sewn and stuffed. I still have four heads to stuff, but I got a great start.

Three bears are waiting to be stuffed and I also have some stuffed wool bunnies and chicks ready for finishing.

I drank a little caffeine and had the music blaring, singing my lungs out. My ears will be hating me later not only from the caffeine but from my singing, but I enjoyed myself. Louise was not at all impressed:

Well I better get off this computer my husband is trying to sleep and I am not being very considerate.

The Girls!!

The girls are finished! Well I want to put hangers on them but the work is done. I love them. They ended up real cute.

This one is my favorite, I am keeping her!!

We got very little snow. Not enough to brag or complain about.

The kids are happy, they had no school today and have no school tomorrow. It is supposed to sleet and ice up. We will see.

Progress

Thought I would give you a look at the girls tonight. They are moving right along. I am starting on their hair next.

We are supposed to get some winter weather Monday. Some schools have closed and some have early release but my kids school has not made a decision yet. It is not supposed to get real messy until later in the day. The area we live in is not accustomed to wintry weather so I think it is okay to cancel school or delay school just to be safe. I would rather this than they have people driving who are not use to the snow and ice and for areas that are not equipped to handle it.

I know I was not going to buy any more patterns this year but I decided I wanted to buy one from my new blogging friend Patti of Raspberry Lane Primitives. I wanted to be able to say I bought one of her first patterns, well it is actually her second but I am pretty close. She is also having a giveaway for her first pattern, Mr Frostee, link is on my side bar. Here is the pattern I got, aren't they cute little fellows. I hope to make some up soon!!

Ornies

I have been working a lot since recovering from the flu. I am still not a hundred percent but I am feeling much better. Thank you for all the awesome comments. I wanted to make sure I let you know I really appreciate all the support I have received from you guys since I have been sick. It has been awesome.

 

Today was my husbands birthday. Poor thing, he went grocery shopping, did laundry and cleaned the guinea pig cage and the dogs.  And me, I was out, because I worked last night and tonight and tomorrow night. I will have to make it up to him. He said it was a fine birthday but I don't believe him.

 

I wanted to show you what I am working on. Hopefully this post will work. I am not using my computer and have never posted this way before.

 

I am working on some ornies. Making them up as I go along, this should be interesting.

Also a little stitching. I did finish the 3 crow stitcheries but have not had a chance to put them into pillow form yet. I am unsure if you can see what this one will be yet.

Well, my break is over and I must get back to work. Have a super rest of the weekend and don't forget to get a little stitching time in!!
